Common questions from customers across Newcastle upon Tyne.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency electrician call-outs in Newcastle?
Yes. Our emergency line on 07849 600035 is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, across Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead and Tyne and Wear.
Which areas do you cover?
Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding area, including Jesmond, Gosforth, Heaton, Byker, Walker, Shieldfield, Sandyford, Benwell, Fenham, Elswick, Scotswood, Kenton, Longbenton, Wallsend and Gateshead.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Loss of power, a breaker or RCD that will not reset, burning smells, sparks, scorch marks, exposed wiring, water on electrics, or a buzzing consumer unit.
What should I do if I smell burning or see sparks?
If it is safe, switch off at the consumer unit main switch and keep clear, then call us. If there is smoke or fire, leave the property and dial 999.
Are you registered and insured?
Yes. NE1 Electrical is NAPIT registered, fully insured, and all notifiable work is certified and notified to Building Control.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. All work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee and a 5-year labour guarantee on new installation work.
How much does an electrician cost in Newcastle?
It depends on the job. Our prices page lists starting prices for common jobs, for example extra sockets from £80, EICRs from £140 and consumer unit replacements from £850. You get a fixed quote before work starts.
Do you give fixed quotes?
Yes for planned work. Fault finding is charged by time because the cause is unknown until traced, but any repair is quoted before we do it.
How often do landlords need an EICR?
Landlords in England need an EICR at least every five years, or sooner if the report says so, and must fix C1, C2 and FI items within 28 days.
Can you replace my old fuse box?
Yes. We replace fuse boxes and older consumer units with metal RCBO boards with surge protection, tested and certified.
Do you carry out full and partial rewires?
Yes, for flats, terraces and houses, with a survey and fixed quote first.
Do you install EV chargers?
Yes. We check your supply first and fit smart chargers with the correct protection and certification.
Do you issue electrical certificates?
Yes. You receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, Minor Works Certificate or EICR as appropriate, plus Building Regulations notification for notifiable work.
Do you work in flats and apartments in the city centre?
Yes. We work in apartments across NE1 and the city centre and are used to arranging access with building managers.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
Often, depending on the diary. Emergencies are prioritised. Call 07849 600035 to check.
