A 7kW home charger draws a continuous 32 amps for hours at a time, so the installation has to be designed for it. Before we quote, we check your incoming supply, main fuse, earthing arrangement and existing load. That tells us whether the charger can go straight in, needs load management, or needs the network operator involved.
We fit smart chargers that meet the Electric Vehicle (Smart Charge Points) Regulations, with the correct RCD protection and open-PEN protection. Where your board is old or full, we can replace the consumer unit at the same visit.

Questions about ev charger installation
Do I need off-street parking?
Yes. Cables cannot trail across the pavement, so you need a driveway or private parking space next to the property.
Will my fuse board need changing?
Sometimes. If the board has no spare way or lacks suitable protection, a consumer unit upgrade may be needed. We tell you at the survey.
