House Rewiring in Newcastle

Full and partial rewires for Tyneside flats, terraces and family homes, planned around you, with a new consumer unit and certification included.

Many Newcastle homes still have wiring from the 1960s and 70s, sometimes older. Rubber-insulated cable, no earth on lighting circuits and too few sockets are common in the Tyneside flats and terraces of Heaton, Fenham and Benwell. A rewire replaces the cables, back boxes and accessories, and brings the whole installation up to the current Wiring Regulations.

We start with a survey to agree where every socket, switch and light should go. First fix happens before plastering, second fix after. Where you are living in the property we work room by room to keep you on power each night.

A partial rewire makes sense when only part of the installation is tired, for example the kitchen and downstairs sockets during a renovation. We test what is staying so you know it is safe to keep.

Questions about house rewiring

How long does a rewire take?

A two-bedroom flat typically takes three to five days for first and second fix. A three-bedroom house is usually five to eight days, depending on access.

Can I stay in the house during a rewire?

Often yes. We can work in stages and restore power at the end of each day. Empty properties are quicker and cheaper to rewire.

Will there be much mess?

Rewiring involves lifting floorboards and chasing walls. We protect floors and furniture, and clean up each day. Making good plaster is quoted separately or left for your plasterer.
